BON DANCE

Hot seat:
Where is the festival? Kapiolani Park. This Saturday @ 5:30.

Are you going to focus on the festival or the dance itself? The dance itself.

"It'd be good if you can be able to get in the middle of the temple & be able to go on top; that would be really good. To get that angle."
Dance to the temple. (dances in circles)
Get someone to talk about the temple.

B- About the Bon Dance/ Okinawa Festival
M- Values/meaning of tradition & honoring ancestors
E- How ANYBODY can learn how to Bon dance & experience the Okinawan culture.

Good source: Joseph will be performing.

BROLL/NAT Sound: Merriement, facial expression of happiness/joy, music, costumes, food, people, talking, laughing, the temple, symbols of value/meaning. Also we can visit the HUOA (Hawaii United Okinawa Association) & get pictures or more research.

Race Track

B-What kind of race track it is and who races there?
drifting, autocross,drag racing, go-karting, etc.

M-Track re-opening after 4 years and if it's leagal or not. And the reason for why it opened up in the first place.
-It is legal to race at the track

E-How they're gonna try to keep it open, and prevent it from closing agian.

Notes:

-Find a subject to interview
-What kind of racing thier is there
-Get good depth on the package
-Make sure the subject doesn't advertise thier race track
-Find out the reason for having this race track
-Find out when to set interview

Good source-Andrew tran

Shots/nat sound:
Shots of the tire and of car driving off as negative shot. A good shot could also be a sequence of him starting car, putting on seat belt, and pushing the gas and driving off. Also the sound of the engine or exhaust going off. Sound of car keys and of car horn.

Ideas:
Possably to get more in depth probaly finding a really good subject and finding out a reason for what inspires them to race. Or also we could find out what the race was opened for, why it closed, and how they see the future of the race track accomlishingMarissa & Desha

Tanioka's Seafood and Catering

B: Humble Beginnings - How they have been successful for 30 years and how they started

M: How operating many businesses took time away from their children, and how they decided to dedicate their lives to them

E: Using Tanioka's to bring the family together, and how they can pass the family tradition on to their granddaughter

Hot Seat Notes:

Tanioka's is very busy and cramped, so moving the tripod and camera around might be a hassle.

Make sure to get b-roll of the family working together at Tanioka's, not just individually, in order to emphasize how Tanioka's is run by family.

Subject: Ron Bright

Thursday (9/2) Saturday (9/4) & Sunday (9/5) (days reserved to get B-Roll) Saturday (9/4) @ 12:00 for interview

B- Introduce "Mr. Bright" & what he does
(Fast pace shots of stage, directing, people on stage)

M-His achievements in theatre/owns his own theatre, retired drama teacher, continues to do shows, honored for devotion to hawaii kids (show shots of Ron Bright mural, teaching)

E-The passion that lies all in the kids (try to get to interview of long time student of mr. bright)

Suggestions: "Try getting an interview from someone who was taught by mr. b in the past that went on to a different career"

"look for someone who has been nurtured by mr. bright"

Nat Sound: directing cast, directing one on one , enthusiastic directions, talking, laughing, orchestra music, feet stomping, hands clapping, him saying "take a 5!" and "ok! good job folks see you tomorrow" or something to that effect for good negative action, sets being moved

Broll: POV shot from stage, POV shot from audience, extreme close up on hands and feet/ habits that mr.b does naturally when directing, wide shot of stage, lights beaming onto stage, POV from side stage, POV from orchestra, shots of mr b one on one with cast member

Play on words: Light shines Bright at Paliku theatre, Theatre bug/epidemic he is trying to spread among kids
